A(y)nswer Me This

So, 21st century, I have but a question.
One that I have asked in my lifetime, but never seemed to get a logical response from.
Here it goes: Why is it moral to serve the happiness of others, but not your own? Here you are, under the direction of what I would argue to be, a new face of- not hope- but of destructive socialism. Certain political decisions under said socialist are unsettling, and will undoubtedly lead to the demise of your economy. Take Obama's tax proposals in his 2012 budget for prime example. The provisions are clearly communistic. For those earning more than $250,000, tax breaks from 2001 and 2003 would expire. The proposal also includes raising the qualified dividend and long-term capital gains tax to 20% from 15%, for those earning more than $250,000. What confuses me further is that for unmarried citizens, taxes would likely be about $200,000, according to an Obama adviser. These groups could end up paying anywhere from several thousand dollars to tens of thousands of dollars more to the government than they are currently. Is this the message that America truly wants to stand behind?
Essentially, what is being proposed is that those who work diligently to earn a living for themselves do not get to reap the benefits, but are forced to sacrifice their earnings to those who are undeserving. If enjoyment is a value, why has America accepted the morality in enjoyment for others, and not the self? Please, socialists, enlighten me.
