First of all, thank you Ben for awaking me from the after life.
I have got to admit, after I saw the horrible things that have happened in the 21st century, I now would rather be where I was. I was quiet angry with what the United States government has become; they are turning into fascist Italy and communist China. A man named Glenn Beck told a statement that I would have not said any better, "Europe and America are moving towards Germany without the mustache. The Centralized government system is a system which eventually will lead to totalitarian government. The individual rights must remain in tact or else the country will be headed down a dark road and people will eventually grow angry and tired of the regime (like recently in Egypt with the revolution against the totalitarian government) and will revolt. I once wrote "To live, man must hold three things as the supreme and ruling values of his life: Reason, Purpose, and self esteem (Rand p.932)." The government is now getting rid of self esteem and purpose by making choice for the people that will eventually be harmful. After waking up from the dead, I learned the recently the United States passed two bills that gives the government more power. First, the Healthcare Bill which now makes healthcare in the hands of government. In addition, the Wall Street reform makes gov't put rules and regulation on Banks; the US gov't is taking control of every thing, both, economically and politically. A man named Hayek once said "for at least twenty five years before the specter of totalitarianism became a real threat, we had progressively been moving away form the basic ideas on which Western civilization has been built (Hayek p. 67)." For periods of time, the entire world has been looking up to the US and Europe because they actually had economic and political freedom. Now that is being taken away by the US government and we're falling in the same hole the rest of the world is in. Very recently, Wisconsin senate representative Scott Walker is in the process of taking away collective bargaining rights from the citizens. This would mean that employers won't negotiate on work conditions with labor unions. This is absolutely ridiculous because the individual rights in which I am a firmly believe in will no longer be practiced in that state. Honestly, the only solution I see is the protesting which is taking place right now. If that does not work, then bigger action needs to take place like impeachment if necessary.
Ben, thanks for waking me from the dead, but after what I have seen, I'd rather be dead!

I agree that Rand would be all for people standing up against the government, but wouldn't she also be anti-unions? I might be wrong, but it seems to me that unions fit into more of a collectivist mindset, so since she is for individualism, wouldn't she be against people banding together for a common goal?
ReplyDeleteHello Rand its a pleasure conversing with you.I think you make a valid point here there's a definite glitch in the government, which needs a wake up call if the US were to come back from this dictatorship that they're heading towards!
ReplyDelete& ahaaa I see i've inspired you in some small way taking my words and meshing it with your point of view.Very nicely done!
