Men Are Traders.

Ayn Rand here speaking, I have recently mastered the use of the Internet as I was researching the issue that is happening nearby in the state of Wisconsin. I found this issue very interesting and also quite frustrating, for this is exactly what I stand against. Here is an overview of what is happening for those who do not know. The state of Wisconsin is having to make some significant budget cuts, one way they decided to do this was by banning the idea of collective bargaining and forcing the public state workers to contribute more to the benefits they receive. The banishment of collective bargaining would go against the Laissez-Faire capitalism ideal that I would like to see in the world. It would no longer allow men to act as traders who exchange things voluntarily for their own mutual benefit. Since the government is interfering too much the public is protesting for their rights back, as they should. They are protesting because they feel as though all their rights are being taken away, they feel as though they no longer have control over their lives. It seems like they are prisoners to their own state because they have been locked in at a certain income that does not fluctuate with inflation or the cost of living. The protesters are protecting themselves from the banishment of collective bargaining because without that their life may not reach the happiness they expect. With all that being said I believe that the government should take a step back, they should not be controlling this traders right of bargaining their income. A Laissez-Faire government would not do such a thing; they would allow the country to fend for themselves and only step in when it is absolutely necessary. They would not be calling in the National Guard just because the people are standing up for themselves, unless the protesters initiated some sort of violence we should not be using any type of violence again them. It is a very easy solution, let me people be. Allow them to deal with one another, leaving the state out of it.

Well that is all I have for you today, I am going to return to my restful sleep I was awoken from.

Good Day.

  1. I totally agree with you and I have the same opinion as Rand would. I think Scott Walker is walking a thin line. All this we have been talking about for the past week is very interesting because sometimes I find myself against centralized gov't power, and some times I find myself against it. Take wall street reform for example, some may think that's too much control while other might think it is genius because banks were basically bullying people and taking advantage of them. I cannot fully agree with one side or the other. What I can agree on for sure though, that Walker is a crazy man who's about to make a lot of people's lives miserable.

  2. Although i agree that the government should step back and allow individuals their freedom, but the government has given unions rights and privileges not offered to private industry. The government is highly influenced by the unions due to campaign contributions to elected officials. This political influence is not necessarily represented of a free market system.
