Hayek here, at your service. Using this thing you call a "computer" I have been looking into the protest that are going on in wisconsin. This proposed bill seems to have a lot of people angry. Even people who wouldn't be affected directly by this are protesting. "Janice Bobholz, a deputy sheriff in Dodge Country, called the right to collectively bargain “a freedom that many have died to protect.” Despite the fact that law enforcement personnel is exempt from many of the restrictions in the budget proposal, Bobholz said that “an attack on the rights of one American is an attack on the rights of all Americans.” " (firedoglake.com) What I think is that this could benefit the economy overall, but the people aren't thinking big picture. They don't like the fact somebody is choosing to take collective bargaining away. I once said in regards to a competitive economy, "That people should wish to be relieved of the bitter choice which hard facts often impose upon them is not surprising. But few want to be relieved through having the choice made for them by others. People just wish that the choice should not be necessary at all. And they are only too ready to believe that the choice is not really necessary, that it is imposed upon them merely by the particular economic system under which we live. What they resent is, in truth, that there is an economic problem."(130) Walker made the choice for this bill to be enforced in hopes that it will be able to repair the Wisconsin deficit. A group that call themselves the Tea Party seems to understand where I'm coming from and have shown their support at the capitol in Madison. The people of wisconsin need to understand the bigger picture. It's not an attack on them, but a push toward a better wisconsin economy.
Now, although I make a great zombie, I would like to go back to being dead now. I have a headache from all this technology nonsense.

ReplyDeleteI fully agree with your blog post. Although it's hard for some people in the unions to understand, there is a huge debt that needs to be paid off...this mean something needs to be done.
ReplyDeleteDearest Pink Highlighter,
ReplyDeleteAnother enjoyable post. Here I notice your adamant Hayekian stance, and your points are very clear. You sound credible in your usage of appropriate quotes and firm tone. For instance, the bold quote you choose to include: "What they resent is, in truth, that there is an economic problem." shows a direct relation from Hayek to this millennium. Also, the fact that you show Hayek siding with the Tea Party seems befitting of his personality as well, and I can see why he would support them in their endeavors concerning the economic issues we face in this new age. I hope Hayek's headache goes away- he should take some Tylenol and realize technology ain't so bad.
