As I read Watching Big Brother I noticed what Ben was talking about and a lot of the things we were discussing in class, firstly that things are never as they seem. As we just finished reading Pursuit of Honor we seen the tactics that people use especially anyone who falls into the sovereign territory which puts them in the state of exception, now as I read Loewen he is stating that what we read in the American history textbooks isn’t all of history we leave out a lot of important facts such as important people that made a difference also that the US is seen as the “good guys” “they see our policies as part of morality play in which the US typically acts on behalf of human rights, democracy, and “the American way.”(221) when textbooks address stories it’s generally done about one point of view therefore leaving out potential important things we should all know about. A lot of exoteric messages as Strauss would say, the fact that “US spends more on this armed forces than all other nations combines and has them stationed in 144 countries.”(222) since this is the case it connects very much with the Libya situation, are we entering for the right reasons, is it a good idea because it is a horrific event and people are getting killed or is it for other reasons? We need to read in-between the lines and that’s why this situation is hard because Gaddafi isn’t seen as a good guy nonetheless but why now?
As I read an article on bbc.co.uk I see Loewens argument that Nato has agreed on the no fly zone this means that 28 allies support that decision including the US but they want limited role in this decision and want to hand over the rest of the responsibility to Nato. What does this mean? That the US in reality wants to seem as showcased in the txt in “The American Pageant” Both these desires crashed headlong with reality that an industrial, healthy Germany was indispensable to the recovery of Europe the Americans soon came to appreciate that fact. But the soviets, deeply fearful of another Hitlerlike invasion, resisted all efforts to revitalize Germany. (5, Bailey & Kennedy) explain that very thought of Libya being the Germany in this scenario and that they very much need our help and if we sit back we would become our arch nemesis USSR and we wouldn’t want that.

Another post supporting Loewen's view, which is ‘history is made as if the U.S. is the only important agent’. While NATO is made of 28 countries, the U.S. is mentioned throughout while the others are not. I think you did a good job connecting Loewen’s view and the text “American Pageant” with the news piece.
